As Ami Underwriting Managers (Pty) Ltd (Ami) observes its first year in the competitive landscape of South African insurance, we reflect on a journey marked by diligent work, meaningful partnerships, and a steadfast commitment to our clients. In a short span, we’ve been privileged to earn the trust of over 1000 high-net-worth individuals and personal lines clients, covering some of the most valuable homes in the country.

This year has also seen us settle thousands of claims, a testament not only to our promise of reliability but also to the trust our clients place in us. Our operations have been characterized by a healthy loss ratio, underscoring our prudent management and solid underwriting practices. Our growth has been supported by a network of 150 active brokers and managed by a team of 12 dedicated professionals spread across South Africa, all of whom have been instrumental in our journey.

In alignment with our commitment to the community and the industry, Ami is excited to participate in key industry events, notably with Christelle hosting InsureTalk, and our sponsorship of Episode 3 of the Insurance Apprentice this year. This showcases our active role in promoting industry excellence and community engagement. We are also excited to deepen our engagement with local institutes, signifying our commitment to professional development and collaboration within the sector. Highlighting this commitment, Kurt Solomons, our executive head of brokers, has accepted the role of council member and head of stakeholder engagement of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (IIG). His leadership and dedication reflect Ami’s values and our collective drive to elevate industry standards.

Moreover, embodying our culture of community involvement, we are immensely proud of our executive head of operations Zaida MIA and her exemplary feeding project. This initiative not only showcases our team members’ commitment to supporting the community but also brings to life our ethos of ‘doing good is good business.’ Through actions like Zaida’s, we demonstrate that meaningful business extends beyond the corporate realm, touching lives and making a real difference in the communities we serve.
